Dropping off passengers at London Stansted Airport can be more pricey than dropping them off at the likes of Heathrow Airport, Luton Airport, and Gatwick Airport. It can be even pricier if you forget to pay the drop off charge and get handed a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN).

What is the London Stansted drop off charge?
The prices for the Express Set Down Zone are as follows:
- £7 for up to 15 mins
- £25 if you go over the 15 mins of allotted time
The Express Drop Off Zone at Stansted Airport is incredibly convenient for passenger drop-offs, with check-in just minutes away.
To note: A £20 fee will apply for re-entering the car park within 30 minutes of your initial entry.
How to pay the Stansted drop off charge?
You can pay the drop off charge at London Stansted Airport in a few convenient ways:
- Automatic Ticket Machines: Located in and around the terminal building. You can use your credit or debit card to make the payment.
- At the Barrier: When you exit, insert the ticket you received upon entry into the barrier, followed by payment with your credit or debit card. The correct amount will be debited, and a receipt will be provided.
The Express Set Down zone is strictly drop off only.
Implemented on November 8th 2023, London Stansted Airport started a six-month programme to completely transition to a cashless payment system for the Express Set Down Zone.
Whereas the ticket machine did not used to give out change, you can forget about handling cash or hunting for coins at the barrier.
You can now pay effortlessly with your credit or debit card, or even your mobile phone. Just a simple tap, scan, or swipe, and you’re all set!
Alternative Short Stay Car Parks (Orange, Green & Blue)
At London Stansted Airport there are some Short Stay options available.
These options allow you to both pick up and drop off passengers.
For example, if a passenger requires help into the terminal, or you need to meet a passenger, the Orange, Green & Blue Short Stay car parks are ideal.
The prices are as follows:
- Up to 30 minutes – £10.00
- Up to 1 hour – £18.00
- Up to 2 hours – £22.00
- Up to 4 hours – £35.00
Are there free drop off options at London Stansted Airport?
London Stansted Airport have a free drop off option at their Mid Stay car park. This option gives you up to 60 minutes of free parking time; after this, the prices are as follows:
Next hour – £5.00
After 2 hours – Day rate (£45.00)
